WHY HIRE AN INDEPENDENT COLLEGE COUNSELOR?
An independent counselor can provide one-on-one personalized counseling with your student. This is not to say that the school counselor does not offer this type of service (in fact, many times we work in conjunction with the student’s high school college counselor). The difference however is that we work solely with the student (and family) for however long it takes (versus limited time availability a student spends with their school counselor).
In addition, during the crucial summer months before senior year, an independent counselor can spend valuable time with your student. College fit, one of the most overlooked vital aspects of creating a college list, is critical to the success of a student’s career, and we strive to find a fit that benefits both the student and the college – a perfect match to be made. In addition, we continuously attend professional conferences, visit a vast array of colleges and stay abreast of ever-changing current admissions practices.
